“He – namely Jesus – gave His life for me, that He, in turn, might take my life from me. ‘I’ve been crucified with Christ,’ that He, then, may live His life through me.”
– Alistair Begg, “A Call To Service, Part 1” TRUTH FOR LIFE
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” – John 14:6
The great paradox is this: to be holy like Christ is holy is impossible through studying the Bible alone (though studying it may very well lead you the person who can make you holy). I can no more make myself holy by my own efforts than I can save my soul by my own efforts. To be holy, as to be saved, is an act of the Holy Spirit by the grace of God made possible by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. “Not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord Almighty.
